We are saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Richard Wylie, President of Endicott college.

Dr. Wylie served as President of Endicott for 31 years. Leadership, commitment to higher education, commitment to community service, vision and his very optimistic attitude are just a sample of the legacy “Doc” leaves.

Dr. Wylie’s commitment to the City of Beverly during his tenure at Endicott has been nothing short of amazing. Among his many roles on Boards of higher education schools and Universities and other education based organizations “Doc” also served on the Board of Directors at Beverly Bank, North Shore Innoventures, Beverly School for Communication Disorders and the Deaf. He also shared his creativity and concern for the betterment of Beverly while serving as a member of the Board of Directors of Beverly Main Streets for many years. Doc was also a long time very loved member of The Beverly Rotary Club.

This commitment to our community was very evident with his commitment and support of the Greater Beverly Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Wylie’s support has been crucial to our growth over the years. The GBCC proudly recognized Doc earlier this year with our most coveted Luminary Award. Doc was just the second person to be recognized as a Luminary. In addition we asked Doc to participate in our speaker series program in April. As he always did he wowed the crowd with his wit and humor along with some details of his incredible story.

On behalf of our Board of Directors, staff and members we send our thoughts and prayers to the Wylie family and we thank them for sharing such true greatness with us.
