How/Why did you first start or join your business?
When I learned the Children’s Piazza would be closing their Beverly location if they couldn’t find a buyer, I knew someone had to step up to save it for the community. For families with small children it is such a lifesaver to have a clean, safe, engaging place to go and play during the long New England winters and summer heat waves. Even though my kids at ages 6 and 9 were outgrowing the space, I knew I wanted to be involved in helping keep the mission going for our community.
What products or services does your business provide?
We are a children’s indoor playground. We host drop-in play, have movement and music classes, and celebrate birthdays. We also provide parents with much needed caffeine. We love working with another local business (Atomic Coffee Roasters) to serve their cold brew iced coffee from our own kegerator. And now we have an awesome new retail store for shopping for quality, unique gifts the littlest ones in your life!
What makes your business or your product unique?
We provide a nurturing space for the whole family to grow and celebrate. We support parents by offering Positive Parenting classes, a mom’s circle, new mom meet-ups, and a night out with our Busy Mom’s Book club,. We focus on the infant and toddlers by providing them a clean, safe space to play and develop with age appropriate climbing structures, sensory experiences, and imaginary play. Our favorite addition to the space is our two murals painted by a local artist with bright, engaging colors – an animal menagerie and an underwater scene. Our retail store has unique, quality, educational items for kids of all ages to surprise and delight them.
What made you decide to become a member of the Greater Beverly Chamber of Commerce?
I wanted to be involved in the community. Since COVID-19 hit I have been grateful for all the resources distributed to members.
How has the current situation with Covid-19 affected your business, and what changes have you made due to the situation?
When we shut our doors we had only been open for 9 months. We just reopened at the end of September and keeping up with our fixed expenses over the last 6 months has been difficult, especially being a small business in its first year of operation. Since COVID, we pivoted to providing purposeful play at home with deliveries of our Room to Bloom created activity kits to help engage toddlers while their parents work remotely. We completed three rounds of 6-week subscriptions for our customers. We now also have a retail store with curated items for the family that are educational, sensory based, or simply make you smile. We hope to be your first stop for holiday shopping for the little ones in your life for books or toys!
Room to Bloom is located at 81 Bridge St., Unit B, Beverly, MA.
